Towns and villages with character
villageBetween Provence and the Côte d’Azur, take the time to explore every day life in Saint-Raphaël and the hilltop villages of the Pays de Fayence. The simple pleasure of a game of boules, the murmur of voices on the terrace when it’s time for an aperitif and the traditional pastis, a sunset stroll… Wander the streets drenched in history at the centres of the Pays de Fayence villages, or roam Saint-Raphaël’s resolutely modern town centre.

Rest on the beaches that stretch right into town. Oh, yes, fine sand right in the middle of town. Then linger on the quays at the Santa Lucia marina, if only just to listen to the musical click-clack of the masts.

The markets
marcheGo down to meet the fishermen who empty their nets at the old port of Saint-Raphaël, or stroll through the markets in the Pays de Fayence villages that still have the colours and fragrances of Provence, so aptly described by famous writers and poets.

Between traditions and modernity
artisanatgenie-cgThe Saint-Raphaël-Pays de Fayence region places the highest importance on human skill and know-how.

Discover the riches of our local artisans – the glassblowers, the sculptors and lathe workers who transform the wood of the olive tree, the ceramists and many other creative souls who dig into wells of history for inspiration, or offer entirely new creations.

The culture of flavour
poissonsProvence also blesses us with the fruit of the land. From the wine-growing estates to the many fields and farms (poultry, bees, etc.), you can discover a whole world of traditions, a friendly atmosphere, and warm hospitality from authentic producers. The people who live and work in the rural world invite you to come enjoy their products, to learn about their savoir-faire, and to visit the actual places where the goods are produced.

From olives to honey, from chestnuts to truffles, from bouillabaisse (fish stew) to fougasse (a local bread), the many restaurants and tables d’hôtes of Saint-Raphaël and the Pays de Fayence offer you a cuisine built around locally grown products, bursting with the scents of Provence, and highlighting the bounty of the Mediterranean.

Travelling through the town and various villages, you will find exquisite tables, chefs who adeptly unite the most delicate flavours, and know how to arrive at just the right taste. Discover the haute cuisine of Saint-Raphaël and the villages of the Pays de Fayence!

The meaning of “Festival”…
There are many events occurring throughout the year. Especially noteworthy are the Street Theatre Festival, the Festivals of Light in December, or Mimosa Week in February in Saint-Raphaël, and the fairs, votive festivals and those honouring patron saints, and the farmers markets and crafts fairs in the Pays de Fayence. It’s a whole world of convivial goings-on, just waiting for you.
