This village, which once was called “Sanctus Paulus de Gallina Grassa”, and later “St. Paul-les-Fayence” and finally “St. Paul-en-Forêt”, has been independent of the town of Fayence since 1824.

A small, authentic burg, snuggled in an expanse of lush vegetation, the land where St. Paul-en-Forêt now stands was previously occupied by the Ligurians, then by the Romans after Caesar’s victory: many remnants left by these various invaders still bear witness to their presence here.
The village of St-Paul-en-Forêt, whose authentic streets and alleyways are perfect for an enjoyable walk, can also be the starting point for a thousand-and-one hikes through its marvellous forest. Its inhabitants, like those living throughout the Pays de Fayence, have the privilege of being able to spend the morning at the beach and don their skis in the afternoon, or visit the incomparable Verdon Gorges.
This is one of the reasons that a good number of tourists have decided to stay in the village permanently, after succumbing to its charm. Fortunate to have a very rich social fabric, the residents of St. Paul are also privileged in terms of opportunities to play sports, with municipal facilities available for tennis, basketball, football (soccer), and volley-ball. A shooting range out in the forest also offers clay pigeon shooting and target shooting.
